The World Development Information Day aims to gather public opinion on developmental issues and trade issues so that those opinions can be utilized towards the greater objective of internationally agreed upon goals for development. Ideally on this day, people represent a pool of information and suggestions that can be harnessed and implemented for growth and development objectives drawn at bureaucratic levels.
The United Nations General Assembly in 1972 established World Development Information Day to draw the attention of the world to development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve them.
